Green Moon Westport Grand Opening Party (Fairfield County) 
This popular art and party space in Rowayton expands to Westport with a grand opening party that includes free crafts and activities for children, as well as live music and the chance to tour the new space. Friday and Saturday. 

Flutter Zone at the Maritime Aquarium (Fairfield County)  
You might not expect to find butterflies at an aquarium, but this seasonal outdoor exhibit is not to be missed. The exhibit features hundreds of exotic tropical butterflies of dozens of varieties from Asia, Africa and South America, and you can walk among them as they flitter and flutter about. Through Labor Day.

Robin Hood Springtime Renaissance Festival  (New Haven County) 
You can shop, eat, play games and enjoy this mythical journey back in time. Children will have the opportunity to learn about history, the performing arts, costuming, music, dance, and more. Through June 7th. Free admission for kids under 6.

Safety on Sea and Shore Weekend (New London County)  
This weekend at Mystic Seaport there's special programming that features an exciting combination of hands-on activities, live talks and demonstrations, and displays of historic emergency response apparatus, including, designed to show how emergency response tools and technologies have changed over time. Free admission is extended to first responders with ID (with discounted admission for family members). Saturday and Sunday.

Celebration of Young Writers 10th Anniversary (Litchfield County) 
Don’t miss this once-a-year, magical event at the beautiful Gunnery School Dining Hall in Washington. Featured celebrity readers will include Ellen McCourt, Jack Gilpin, and Rose Styron among others. The annual Celebration of Young Writers was inspired by the After School Arts Programs’s passion to encourage children’s creativity and imagination in the literary arts. This year’s event honors long standing supporters Ann & Denis Leary and Susanna Salk.

Small Boat Day at Esker Point Beach (New London County) 
If you're looking for more ways to get out on the water with your family, check out this program from the Groton Department of Parks and Recreation. They will have a variety of small boats including kayaks, sailboats, paddle-boards, and sliding seat shells. Learn all about water sports and recreational activities in the area. Free. 

AMC Sensory Friendly Film: Tomorrowland (Fairfield County) 
This monthly program at select AMC theaters (including the Lowes Danbury 16) provides a special opportunity for families to enjoy their favorite films in a safe and accepting environment. The auditoriums dedicated to the program have their lights up, the sound turned down and audience members are invited to get up and dance, walk, shout, or sing!

American Girl Day of Fun at Family Tree Yoga (Fairfield County) 
Join fellow American Girl Doll friends for this amazing American Girl Doll even that includes various activities for kids & their dolls include yoga, a masquerade craft, and a tea party.

Outdoor Movie Night at the Durham Fairgrounds with "Monsters Inc" (Middlesex County)
Come out the Durham Fairgrounds and enjoy a beautiful summer night with the movie "Monsters Inc" on a two-story high movie screen. Come early for festivities such as crafts and face painting. There will be food available for purchase. Proceeds benefit the Durham Cooperative Nursery School.

Compass Challenge (Fairfield County)
Children six and up are invited to cover the basics of orienteering in order to improve outdoor skills. Learn the proper way to take a bearing and how to set and maintain a course to ensure you are going in the correct direction. Compasses provided. Recommended for ages 6 and older.

Introduction to Archery (Fairfield County)
Do you have a budding Katniss Everdeen on your hands? Then head to this free program at the Trumbull Arts and Nature Center where a CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection instructor will be on hand to talk about archery equipment, safety, and shooting techniques.
Free, but preregistration is required.

Hartford Earth Festival (Hartford County) 
Join the Hartford Earth Festival, a  free, fun, family-friendly event in Hartford with great performances and information about how you can take care of our planet. Kids will enjoy musicians such as the Hartford Steel Symphony and the Meadows Brothers, Cyril the eco magician, and more. Free.

Uniform Day at the Dinosaur Place in Montville (New London County) 
Kids wearing sports uniforms get in free with paid adult! Show your junior all-star how proud you are by taking him or her on a Jurassic Journey through The Dinosaur Place 60 acre Outdoor Adventure Park. Don't forget your bathing suits and water shoes/flip-flops, access to New England's largest Splashpad is included.
