Using a free booklet available at Keeler Tavern Museum, its website, and many locations in town, families are guided to 20+ historic points of interest in Ridgefield and earn an opportunity to receive prizes.  The Family History Hunt is a wonderful opportunity for children of all ages to explore Ridgefield and learn about local history throughout our community.  Your completed Family History Hunt book will entitle you to prizes and a special invitation the Keeler Tavern Museum's 300th birthday party on June 15, 2013. 
 

Celebrate Children's Book Week and the height of spring by sharing some of our favorite stories on the trails. Enjoy a page of a great children's book as you hike along our trails and when you have completed your hike, you've completed the story. This is a unique way to enjoy our trails with your children! Trail information will be available at the Overbrook Nature Center or the Bendel Mansion.

A drop-in program for babies and their caretakers which incorporates music, rhythm, stories and nursery rhymes to spur language development, body awareness, pre-reading skills, self-confidence and cooperation. Gathering at 10:30 with the program beginning at 10:45, followed by free play.

Researchers know that the major neurological pathways in the human brain are well-formed within the first 6 months of life. The beautifully designed Music Together Babies curriculum couples fascinating research about how infants process and respond to music with engaging music and movement activities that are specially designed for babies 8 months and younger and their parents/caregivers. The 8-week course begins on Tuesday, April 23rd at 11:30am at St. James's Episcopal Church in West Hartford. Norwalk from the point of view of students involved in the Norwalk Housing Authority’s Learning Center Photography Club will be on display at the Maritime Garage Gallery as part of the Norwalk Parking Authority’s Art in Parking Places. “Photo Voices” will open on Tuesday April 9th and runs through May 24th.

Kindergarten through 7th graders, residents of the Norwalk Housing Authority’s Washington Village, were asked to uncover their sense of identity and raise awareness of issues they face in their community through their photography. The “Photo Voices” exhibit includes more than 40 works that explore multiple facets of community life including the topics, “A Positive Look At My Neighborhood”, “The Change I Want To See” and “The People of My Neighborhood”.

If you are interested in Fashion and you are organizing your summer please visit us at our OPEN HOUSE. This will give you opportunity to meet our instructors, visit our facility and ask all questions you have. The Open House is a FREE Event.

Adult Fashion Lab workshops

Offers a hands-on industry experience, each fashion lab session offers students an opportunity to stimulate, grow and express their inner fashion-creative genius. Workshops in Pattern Making, Draping, Sewing, Fashion Illustration and Fashion Design are offered in convenient evening and weekend sessions.

Fashion Lab Summer Camp

Is Connecticut's only day camp for youth ages 11-19 teaching fashion design. Each four hour session of NEF+DA's Fashion Lab is project oriented, allowing students to complete their week of Fashion Lab camp with their own finished fashion design projects.

Hear special themed books that are  hand selected to delight your child. Listen, laugh, sing and smile with your child in this weekly event.

A great opportunity for moms to forge connections and friendships based on community and the common bond of parenthood.  Informal discussions on parenting topics, infant growth and development and returning to work are covered.  This group is for mothers and their babies 4 -12 months old.  Call to pre-register.

Victorian era gadgets, technologies and breakthroughs will be on display at the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum engaging children and adult audiences. Visitors will view cutting-edge Victorian Era technology that were precursors of some of today’s technologies, including telegraphs, dictaphones, gas lighting and early examples of telephones, burglar alarms, stock tickers and much more. They will discover items we still see today, from board games to food such as condensed milk and breakfast cocoa. Artifacts on display include loans from Connecticut's Mattatuck Museum and the Museum of American Finance, New York City, among others.

A new project every month for students in grades K-6.  Class size is limited to 25 participants.  Register in advance.

March: The Fox Chase: A Race Into History
A tour of the Griswold Boardinghouse with an emphasis on the long
mural over the fireplace followed by a hands-on creative collage project.

April: Oh Canada! Arthur Heming, Wilderness Artist
A tour of the nature-based scenes by Lyme Art Colony artist
Arthur Heming followed by a hands-on creative nature printing project.

May: Making Art Inside or Out: Plein-Air Painting vs. In the Studio
A tour of the Chadwick Studio to discuss the tools & techniques of the
Lyme painters followed by a outdoor sketch recreated indoors in paint.

June: Kaleidoscopes in Bloom (The Griswold Flower Gardens)
A guided tour of the flower-filled gardens and grounds of the Museum
followed by a hands-on creative watercolor and pastel project.

Are you a student in grade 7-11? Do you like technology, design, math, science or marketing? Interested in being part of a robotics team and competing? If so, you might consider joining Wilton Library’s new robotics team. Come hear what a representative from FIRST has to say about this national program, watch a local team demonstrate their robot and gather information about our start-up team. Registration recommended. Parents are welcome to attend.
