Connecticut shores face Long Island Sound, so of course many of our kids have beach swimming as one of their essential summertime memories. But there are delightful places to swim all over our little state including pools, lakes, and swim clubs. Club membership brings with it access to many features such as outdoor pools, indoor pools, and lake swimming and boating, so why not give it a try? Read on for our guide to beach and swim clubs for kids in Connecticut!

Beach and Swim Clubs in Fairfield

1. Sprite Island Yacht Club - Norwalk

The Sprite Island Yacht Club is actually on an island. Small launches take members and guests from the dock on the mainland across the inlet to the island. The island offers a snack bar, restrooms, swimming, and barbecue areas. Visit the website for membership inquiries.

2. Roton Point - Rowayton

Beautiful Roton Point in Rowayton, CT is a private club where you can enjoy swimming (in the pool or in the Long Island Sound), tennis and sailing. The grounds are beautiful, and the club offers many programs for children and adults. The membership is restricted to 400 family memberships – if you’re interested in using the club for a season, you must rent a membership from a current member.

3. The Lake Club - Wilton

Members can enjoy The Lake Club all year round. Summer activities include swimming and tennis for children ages 3 and up. There is a playground, pond to canoe and kayak in, and two different diving boards to test your mettle on.

4. Mamanasco Beach Club - Ridgefield

Topping the list is the Mamanasco Beach Club in Ridgefield. This low-key club offers its members beach access on the lovely Lake Mamanasco. Members can enjoy swimming, boating (no gasoline motors or jet-skis) and fishing, as well as a variety of club events throughout the season. There are two memberships rates: one for families who live outside of the immediate water shed area and one for those who live within.

5. Candlewood Yacht Club-  New Fairfield

Candlewood Yacht Club is located on the largest area lake – Candlewood Lake in New Fairfield. The club prides itself on its sailing heritage and hosts several sailing events for all ages. Members must provide a boat. Non-sailing activities include swimming at the beach, picnicking, and enjoying the play area.

6. Mandell JCC - Bloomfield

This is a terrific place for all sorts of  family activities, but especially for swimming. At the Hollander Aquatics Center there is a 6-lane, 25-yard lap pool where lessons are held all summer. There is open swimming every weekday afternoon. There are membership rates for families, single parent families, couples, individuals, college students, and teens. The club also maintains a Swim and Tennis Club with two outdoor pools, a slide, diving board, and a kiddie pool.

7. Salmon Brook Waterfront - Granby

Salmon Brook has a man-made pond fed by an underground springs. The beach is sandy and there are no pond rocks to hurt little feet. There are trained lifeguards on duty and has daily hour for public swim.  Memberships are available, but a nominal non-member fee is available for swimming as well.

8. Babb's Beach and Lake Congamond - Suffield

A special place to spend the day with the family. Located between Suffield and Southwick, Babb's Beach is open daily from 10a to 6pm for sunbathing and swimming. There is a pavilion for picnicking and kayak rental. There is a parking fee for non-Suffield residents.

9. Cornerstone Aquatics Center -  West Hartford

A family-friendly facility that features a training pool and a recreation pool with zero-depth entry. The recreation pool is family-friendly that is maintained at between 85-99 degrees. For more information on memberships, go to the Cornerstone Aquatics website.

Beach and Swim Clubs around New Haven

10. Ridge Top Club - North Haven

Membership required, so make sure to get in early or get on next year's waiting list. Ridge Top has a full calendar of summer events as well as private lessons and water polo. Members can use the olympic size pool and the varied list of swimming times as well as many other features of the club such as tennis, pickleball and BBQ's.

11. The Paugusset Club - Orange

Members can enjoy the outdoor 7-lane pool, kiddie pool and water sprinkler. The pool has an depth of between 4 and 8 feet and the kiddie pool is a foot. Pool houses are located nearby for a quick change of clothes and there is plenty of both shaded and sunny places for mom or dad to put a chair. The "Paugy" also has a swim team.

12. Silver Sands Beach and Tennis Club - East Haven

Right on the beach and practically tropical for Connecticut, the Silver Sands Beach and Tennis Club will give you access to 500 feet of sandy shore. For the price of membership enjoy all the features and perks like a restaurant, pools and swim lessons. There are water trampolines in the water, a toddler pool and even a tiki bar. 

13. Paradise Country Club - Hamden

Enjoy the 6-lane pool and an acre-wide swimming pond (man-made). Memberships are available. There is lots of seating by the pool and plenty of space to pull up a chair and umbrella at the pond. There is also a nature-made pond nearby where you can hop into a paddle boat and tool around.

14. Owenego Beach Club - Branford

A "laid-back" beach and tennis club. Families can paddle a kayak, swim, play on the long stretch of beach or play on the playground.
