Teen birthday party ideas in Westchester and the Hudson Valley may seem tougher to come by than the princess- or pirate-themed fiestas that work for the younger set, but there are lots of options, including parties centered on art, games, rock climbing, or–believe it or not–skydiving.

1. Boundless Adventures  – Purchase

Tweens and teens will love trying their hand at these “aerial adventures”, which involve everything from zip lining to balancing high above the ground on courses that vary by difficulty. Birthday parties include 2-and-a-half hours on the courses (there's also an orientation), and you can either have food delivered or pack your own. Just note that for kids under 12, there has to be at least one adult on the ground for every 10 kids climbing.

2. Showcase Cinema – Yonkers and White Plains

Sure, you could take the crew to the movies—or you could rent out the whole theater to celebrate. That option, available at Showcase Cinema de Lux City Center in White Plains or Showcase Cinema de Lux Ridge Hill in Yonkers, is available for up to 20 people. You can also opt for a “concession package” with choices like popcorn, drinks, personal pizza, and more.   

3. K1 Speed – Mount Kisco

Plan the ultimate racing-themed birthday for your teen at K1 Speed, which features a thrilling go-kart track for junior and adult-sized electric karts. Parties also include a host and a podium ceremony for the kids after racing.

4. The Puzzle Parlour – White Plains

Teens can test their abilities in one of these four escape rooms, which can accommodate up to eight people and feature themes like "vampire" and "alien conspiracy." Just keep in mind that parties with kids under 14 will need an adult present.

6. The Cliffs – Valhalla

Have a budding rock climber on your hands? Then a party at this Valhalla climbing gym will be a hit. Packages vary by length of time, but if you opt for the 2-hour party, you’ll get climbing time, an instructor, a private room, and the option of adding on gift bags.

7. iFly – Yonkers

If your teen wants to go skydiving but you prefer something a little, well, closer to the ground, then iFly, which offers indoor skydiving, is a good compromise. “The Elevated” package includes two flights, rentals, and training, plus a party room, pizza, and more.

8. Muse Paint Bar – White Plains and Yonkers

At this paint bar in either downtown White Plains or at Ridge Hill in Yonkers, art-loving teens and tweens can paint their creations. An instructor leads the show, and you can either add on food through them or provide it yourself. Decorations are also OK, as are playlists, and they can offer other creative ideas, too, like the use of an Instax camera.

9. The Edge VR – Croton-on-Hudson

Kids ages 8 and older can transform into avatars and step into another world in The Edge VR's social and interactive free-roam virtual reality adventures. Party guests get 50 minutes of VR gameplay, choosing from team military missions, zombie battles, kids’ toy adventures, and more, with time for cake and pizza afterward (bring your own or have it delivered).

10. Spins Hudson – Peekskill

Spins Hudson is a 40,000-square-foot entertainment complex overlooking the scenic Charles Point Marina on the Hudson River.
