Celebrating Valentine's Day in Connecticut (Fairfield County)

There is nothing quite as heartwarming as the homemade Valentine’s Day cards you get from your little munchkins.  But if your house is like mine, those homemade bundles of love leave a trail of construction clippings, marker stains, and a thin layer of glue on every surface.  So…it’s time to outsource Valentine’s Day preparations! Lots of local libraries, amongst other organizations, are hosting Valentine’s events:

Sweet Rexie’s Valentine Workshop, Fairfield, CT

Call ahead to reserve a spot at Sweet Rexie’s Valentine Workshop.   Participants will decorate little mailboxes, play games, enjoy ice cream sundaes and join in more Valentine’s Day fun.  Sunday, February 13th, 3:30-4:30, $20/child.

Teddy Bear Tea Party, Stamford, CT

Visit the Stamford Museum and Nature Center on Saturday, February 11th from 2-4 for  a Teddy Bear tea party.  Dress your favorite Teddy in his holiday best, and come enjoy tea and treats with other Teddy Bears (and their owners).  Call for reservations; the cost is $25/person for members, $35/person for non-members.

Valentine’s Concert with the Haas Vaz Duo, Greenwich, CT

Come enjoy some beautiful bossa nova and jazz music at Greenwich’s Byram Shubert Library.  The duo will be showcasing their saxophone and guitar talents on February 11th, from 3-4:15.

Annual Valentine’s Workshop, Cos Cob, CT

Open to all ages, the annual Valentine’s Workshop at the Cos Cob library will be held February 11 from 2:45-4:45.  Bring your kids and make Valentine’s for your own friends and family, as well as for local seniors.

Bring your teen to the Trumbull Library to learn to make roses out of duct tape (yup...you read that right!).  Wednesday, February 8, from 4-5pm.  Call or go online to register.

Pre-school Valentine’s Craft,  Canaan, CT

Visit the New Canaan Library on February 6th at either 9:45 or 10:45 for a pre-school craft project.  Available for kids 3-5 accompanied by a caregiver.

Chocolate Making for Children, Wilton, CT

Bring your 4th-6th graders to the Wilton Library on February 13th to learn about chocolate and to make some delicious chocolate treats (truffles!).  Registration is required, and the event runs from 4pm-5pm.
