The Academy Museum presents an accessible screening of He Named Me Malala, the documentary about Nobel Prize winner and human rights advocate Malala Yousafzai.

About the film: Oscar-winner Davis Guggenheim (An Inconvenient Truth) directed this powerful documentary about Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani activist who survived a near-fatal Taliban attack at age 15 and went on to become the youngest Nobel Peace Prize laureate in history for her efforts to ensure education for children, especially girls. Guggenheim follows Yousafzai in her activism while also finding time to explore her relationship with her family, and benefits from animated sequences directed by Jason Carpenter and a thoughtful score by 15-time Academy Award–nominee Thomas Newman (Finding Nemo).

This 2015 documentary is rated PG-13 and has a run time of 88 minutes.

On the last Saturday of every month, the museum's Family Matinee is an accessible screening where we offer open captioning, keep the theater dimly lit, and maintain a lower volume for viewers who are neurodiverse.
