Winter Break Camps for Kids in Fairfield County

2/13/15 - By Jacqueline Miller

It's hard to believe it, but here in the midst of all these snow days, it's time for Winter Vacation right here in Fairfield County. If you're like me and the snow days and delayed openings mean you're playing a little bit of catch up, you may be thinking about vacation camp options for winter break. Fortunately, there are a myriad of drop-off options for kids of all ages, whether you're looking for coverage for a whole day or just a couple of hours.

A word of warning: winter break can be a bit of a tricky thing, with each district taking a slightly different approach to scheduling. While everyone's closed on Monday, February 16th, for President's Day, Greenwich public schools, for example, are closed all of this week; Darien and Westport are closed all of next week; Stamford is closed Friday; etc. So, if you're exploring camp options, double check that the dates you need match the dates being offered.

My oldest is 9 so he has just about aged out of Kids U, but for a long time this was his very favorite place on earth, and as a result, their vacation camps became some of my very favorite things too. The camps offer a sampling of all of Kids U's programs from gymnastics to cooking to crafts and, of course, lots of climbing on the playquad (a fabulous indoor climbing structure that has to be seen to be believed). Snacks and drinks are provided. Camps are offered in daily AM (9:15 am 1 12:25 pm) or PM (1:15 to 4:15 pm) sessions, with the AM sessions being the most popular. Cost: $250/child/week, $225/sibling/week or $55/child/session, $50/sibling/session; offered February 16th-20th.
