Tween Shopping Roundup in Greenwich

8/23/15 - By Susan Isaak

It's not easy being tween, especially when you're looking for something cool to wear. Luckily, Greenwich has a lot of choices that are just right including Splendid, which has their only Connecticut retail location right on Greenwich Avenue in Fairfield County. The Splendid store is in great company with all of the other boutiques and restaurants that make Greenwich a world class shopping destination, even if you're just doing some world class window shopping. It's time for a journey up and down the avenue to check out all of the best tween shopping in town.

Splendid - It's hard not to love Splendid's super soft cotton basics in flattering, chic styles and colors. Even better, their clothing is affordable and well made with styles for every age. The store is bright and airy, with live plants on the walls and natural wood furniture. The space feels happy, relaxed and comfortable, kind of like their clothing.  The kid's clothing is in the back of the store, and while the kid's selection is a bit limited, the store still does carry some really nice styles for kids and tweens.

Hoagland's of Greenwich - Believe it or not, this Greenwich institution known for fine china and gifts also has some of the best tween clothing on the avenue. You have to go through the store and down the stairs to find it (or enter through the back door by the public parking lot). Once you're in the children's section, you'll see plenty of on-trend options for tweens from tie-dyed tanks to formal dresses and brands like Roxy GirlAutumn Cashmere Kids and Un Deux Trois. They also happen to have the largest selection of bikinis, suits, rashguards and cover-ups that I've ever seen.

Roberta Roller Rabbit - These colorful hand block printed pieces feature graphic designs like flowers, monkeys, fish and elephants. Among the many options, the store's signature piece is a kurta, which is a loose fitting, collarless shirt. It's the perfect breezy top for summer or colorful coverup for the beach. My daughter loves the frog pattern.

Vineyard Vines - With their bright colors and fun, creative prints, these preppy clothes are a little more modern and laid back than you might expect. The day we went, they were giving out huge pink foam whale hats. For a more classic Palm Beach preppy look, you can definitely find some lovely dresses for your tween at Lilly Pulitzer.

Ruby and Jenna - While this store is definitely more for teens and young adults, I need to mention it because they have a huge selection of those trendy, printed, colorful socks that all the girls want... the ones with pictures of French Fries or cereal or watermelons. Trust me, your tween wants every single pair.
