My son, at 6 years old, declared his intention to attend MIT after high school, class of 2027.  He lives and breathes science, so most summer camps involving athletic activities don't appeal much to his interests.  Sound familiar?  If your little marine biologist or farmer need a fun camp experience this summer, New London county offers a wide range of camps just for them! New London County 4H Camp - Franklin

Campers return to this camp year after year, for good reason!  Lifelong friends emerge from group activities in a serene, outdoor setting.  Set on 24 acres in Franklin, Connecticut, the NLC 4-H camp offers a traditional day camp, an introduction overnight camp for younger campers, and a wide range of activities including archery, swimming, fishing, canoeing and even ukulele building.  There is a 1 and 6 camper to adult ratio.

Project Oceanology - Groton
Learn about marine life both in the laboratory and through field study in Long Island Sound!  Project Oceanology offers both day and residential camps for 5th-9th graders.Camps explore the coast, shore habitats and offshore studies, while staying at Project Oceanology's oceanfront facility in Groton.

Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center Summer Camp - Mystic
Kids develop an appreciation for the environment, while learning about teamwork and exercising their imaginations. The camps' mission is to get children ages 3 to 15 outside in the natural world. Choose from a half or full day camp filled with activities that range from catching frogs and beach combing for the littlest campers to zip lining and geo-caching for middle schoolers.

Terra Firma Farm Camp - Stonington
Three hundred campers come every summer to learn about that what it takes to live on the farm! For ages 3 and up, campers learn all aspects of maintaining the farm, from tending to plants to caring for the animals, while learning about responsibility and developing an appreciation for the environment.

Pinepoint Summer Sessions - Stonington
Pinepoint offers several summer programs depending on your child's interests.  In June students in grades 1-9 are invited to sign up for a four day golf clinic.  In addition that month, there is a 5-day summer theater program, a  Mini Musical and a Coding Workshop.  In July, there are two sessions of gymnastics and in August Kindergartners can participate in the Kindergarten readiness program.

Offered June-August, Mystic Aquarium offers hands-on experience, up-close-and-personal animal encounters and plenty of other educational opportunities for the budding marine biologist. Camp is offered for children ages 3-16. Overnight opportunities are available for older kids.
