The birds are singing, the flowers are blooming, the sun is shining--it finally feels like spring! For many schools in Connecticut, this coming week is spring break, so we have plenty of activities to keep you busy this weekend and into next week.

Easter Bunny Train at the Danbury Railway Museum (Fairfield County)
Admission to this family favorite event includes a ride through the Railway Museum's railyard on a vintage train; a visit with the Easter Bunny in his special railroad car; a small gift for children from the Easter Bunny; temporary tattoos; a coloring station; and a Thomas® play table. Reservations are suggested and are available online up to 48 hours before the event (space permitting). Saturday and Sunday. $10 (children under two are free ).

A Bunny's Tale: The Mishaps of Miss Hops (Fairfield County) 
Be a part of some good old springtime fun, and enjoy this fun Easter musical, A Bunny’s Tale: The Mishaps of Miss. Hops! The creator of Santa’s Crazy Christmas Special brings us another holiday-inspired gem of a show – don’t miss out on being a part of it! Follow Miss. Hops as she tries to discover the secret to her magical ways, befriends Peter Cottontail, and has to help defeat the Big Bad Wolf–oh my! Once you venture into this world of tie-dye and magic, you may never want to leave! $5 for adults; $15 for children. Saturday and Sunday.

The Great Egg Hunt and Spring Celebration at New Canaan Nature Center (Fairfield County) 
Meet warm and fuzzy spring animals (baby chicks and rabbits, plus some friends from Hop Along Hollow–a rabbit rescue group) & enjoy the spring weather with a self-guided scavenger hunt on the center's wooded trails. Up for more of a challenge? Try your hand at the Spoon/Egg Obstacle Course. Tickets remain for some sessions on Friday and some on Saturday but are selling fast--don't miss out! $10 per child. Friday and Saturday.

New Britain Youth Theatre Presents "Snow White" (Hartford County) 
Children ages 6 to 9 perform and entertain in this adaptation of the classic fairy tale with some fun new twists! Meet the Magic Mirror, the Wicked Queen, Snow White, the smitten Prince, and a collection of dwarves, royal servants, and woodland animals! Friday to Sunday. $8 adults; $6 children.

Educators' Weekend at Mystic Seaport (New London County) 
Free admission will be offered to all teachers, afterschool professionals, and their families (up to four people total with teacher ID) during the 12th annual Educators' Weekend at Mystic Seaport! You can explore the Museum, learn more about their educational programs, and find connections that link your classroom to the Seaport. Saturday and Sunday. Free (pre-registration and ID required).

Saturday, April 12

Westport Country Playhouse Season Kickoff Block Party (Fairfield County) 
To celebrate the beginning of the 2014 season, the Westport Country Playhouse is throwing a party! Get the "backstage experience" and see the theater through an actor's eyes. Enjoy four  local food trucks in one spot: CT favorites Bodega, Christophe's Crepes, LobsterCraft, and Skinny Pines Pizza will have food available for purchase and complimentary custard will be available from Shake Shack. There will be fun games, music, and activities for adults and kids alike. 4 to 7 p.m.  Free.

Springtime Sunset and Moonlight Walk (Fairfield County)
Join the Greenwich Audubon as they seek out the sights, sounds, and smells of a spring evening visiting field, pond, forest, and lake in search of wildlife. We will also listen overhead and look up at the moon in search of silhouettes of night-flying springtime bird migrants. Appropriate for children ages 7 and up Free, but pre-registration is required.

Kent Easter Egg Hunt (Litchfield County) 
The annual hunt on the lawn outside Kent Town Hall, 41 Kent Green Boulevard. The event is open to Kent youngsters, ages 10 and under, and features two separate hunts: ages 5 and under and ages 6 to 10. 10:00 a.m. Raindate is Saturday, April 19th. Free.

Sunday, April 13

Playtime at the Palace: Bubble Mania (Fairfield County) 
Kids flip for this heady mix of visual comedy, quick wit, big band swing music and amazing soap bubble manipulations--from award-winning bubble art forms to trapping people in a giant bubble! 3:00 p.m. Adults, $20; children, $15.

Julia's Run for Children (New Haven County) 
Julia's Run for Children is held in the memory of Julia Rusinek, who was a rising senior at Yale University at the time of her death in July 1999, when she died of an undetected heart condition. This event celebrates Julia's life by combining Julia's passion for running with her commitment to making a difference in the lives of children. A 0.7 mile fun run for kids age 12 and under starts at 9:30. The full 4 mile run/walk starts at 10:00. Race fees start at $9.

Caring Bunny Comes to Crystal Mall (New London County) 
The Crystal Mall in Waterford is offering this option for families that have children with special needs and who may require a subdued environment to participate in the Bunny Photo Experience. Many steps will be taken to reduce sensory triggers, creating a more comforting environment for children’s cherished visit with the Bunny. Free, but reservations are suggested.
