Halloween is around the corner now. While you field the ever-changing costume ideas over the next few weeks, we've rounded up some family fun in the Hartford area. Whether you're looking for a safe alternative to traditional trick-or-treating or you who simply can’t get enough Halloween fun, here are some day and nighttime trick-or-treat options on and around Halloween. Annual Halloween Stroll - West Hartford
Saturday, October 28

Children are invited to trick or treat at participating merchants throughout West Hartford Center and Blue Back Square. Enjoy kid-friendly live music, prize and food giveaways, appearances by local sports mascots, games, and more.

CT Science Center's Spooktacular Science Weekend
Saturday and Sunday, October 21-22

Celebrate Halloween at CT Science Center's Spooktacular Weekend. Kids can trick or treat in costume (adult masks are not permitted) and have their faces painted. Make your own slime, decorate a pumpkin, whip up a Halloween craft, and say cheese in the photo booth.

Give-a-Treat, Get-a-Treat
Monday, October 24

The Shoppes at Farmington Valley, an outdoor shopping center, will host Give-a-Treat, Get-a-Treat. Bring a nonperishable food item to donate and kids 10 and under get a free treat bag to go trick-or-treating at the shops. Treats available while supplies last.

Stew Leonard’s
Wednesday October 26
Visit Stew Leonard’s for trick-or-treating in the store with Stew Leonard characters, including mascot Wow the Cow. Candy stations will be set up in each department for kids to stop at. Children must bring their own bags.

Annual Halloween Spooktacular
Friday, October 28
The Children’s Museum in West Hartford is holding their annual Spooktacular. Kids will trick or treat around the museum for spooky prizes, make hauntingly fun take-home crafts, parade in costume, play fun games, meet animals of the night, and view a special Planetarium show. Registration is required prior to the event.

Halloween Dance Party at Evergreen Walk
Friday, October 28
The Promenade at Evergreen Walk in South Windsor, an outdoor shopping center, will host a Halloween dance party for kids. Candy counting and best costume contests, live music, a cupcake walk and more.

Nightmare on Broad Street
Monday, October 31

Come to the Windsor Town Green for some Halloween fun: visit (in costume) local businesses that will hand out treats and scary surprises, go on a hayride, have your picture taken with a Halloween ghoul, watch a Halloween movie, and more!
