Camping in the Central CT Region

Camping is the ultimate epitome of a summer adventure. Nothing really sums it up more than sleeping in the wilderness, experiencing the great outdoors, roasting S’mores, telling stories around the camp fire. Since it’s a fairly cheap weekend getaway it’s a perfect way to add in a low cost vacation for the family. So pack up the tent and check out one of these local sites in the Central Connecticut area.

Black Rock State Park located in Watertown is open daily for the season now through September 2. It is $17/night for CT residents plus a registering fee. The campground has 78 wooded and open sites with fishing and swimming available. Pets and alcohol are not allowed.

Devils Hopyard State Park in East Haddam has 21 wooded sites near a scenic waterfall. They have stream fishing but no swimming. Reservations are accepted through Labor Day. It is $14/ night for CT residents plus the processing fee.

The Wolf’s Den Campground is located in the beautiful area of East Haddam. Cost for a site rental is $45 per night for a minimum stay of two nights on the weekends. A fun family camping spot filled with amenities like mini golf, a swimming pool, hiking, fishing, sports and more!

In East Hampton is Nelson’s Family Campground the sister site to the Wolf’s Den. Also for $45/ night it has many of the same amenities like swimming pool, billiards, themed weekends and scheduled activities for the entire family and more.

Markham Meadows located in the heart of Connecticut also over in East Hampton is a family owned campground set in the 100 acres of beautiful farmland. They also have swimming, fishing and other fun activities available. Rates are $43/ night.
