25 Fun Things to do With Kids in Glastonbury

Glastonbury, a town located in the Central CT area, is only 20 minutes from Hartford. Thank goodness you don’t have to go all the way to the capitol city to find fun things to do. There are plenty of entertaining options located right in Glastonbury for you to choose from. From rock climbing to berry picking as well as great places to dine and watch concerts, we’ve listed 25  fun things to do with kids in Glastonbury! 1. Visit the wildlife and plant exhibit at the Connecticut Audubon Center’s 48 acre park.

2. Head to Rose’s Berry Farm for pick-your-own berries and fresh produce throughout the year.

3. Another farm located in Glastonbury is Riverview Farm. They have two locations within the town Rob’s Ice Cream Shoppe or The Old Cider Mill. At The Old Cider Mill you can enjoy the history of the oldest, continuously operating cider mill in the USA. Or go over to Rob’s Ice Cream Shoppe for farm made ice cream and during the fall season for hayrides, a petting zoo, a corn maze, a pumpkin bounce and more.

4. Explore one of the 5 walking loops located in Glastonbury.

5. If you don’t want to walk and cycling is more your thing then check out one of the bike paths all part of the towns new Bicycle Master Plan.

6. When the weather warms up have a picnic in the pavilion or one of the tables situated along the water at Riverfront Park.

7. Take a hike at Blackledge Falls and view the beautiful pond and streambelt.

8. Glastonbury has an Art Guild, a non-profit organization that preserves the arts. There are many creative events that take place throughout the year like the Art Walk, the On the Green show and more.

9. In the winter season Williams Park offers outdoor ice skating on the pond. 

10. Also during the winter season is the Santa Run, a family oriented race that takes place every December. 

11. In the summer months go to Grange Pool to cool down. An outdoor rectangular shaped swimming pool with a depth from 3 feet to 10 feet and a slide at the deep end. The facility also includes a children's wading pool.

12. For all the skateboarders or in-line skaters there's a skate park that boasts a 4’ half pipe, 2’, 3’ and 4’ quarter pipes, ramps, rails and wedges!

13. For the little ones the Barnes & Noble  has a story and craft hour with songs, stories, crafts and games. 

14. To learn some history about the town of Glastonbury check out the Historical Society Museum. The admission is free and you can learn with exhibits on Native Americans, the Civil War and more. 

15. Addison Park has a Boundless Playground which is a great accessible park for all children including kids with disabilities. 

16. If you're looking for a place to dine at try Plan B. Their burgers are delicious and they also have a special menu for the kids. 

17. The Whole Foods in Glastonbury has a special kids play area so in between grabbing some groceries you and your little one can stop to play. They also have a huge food court so you can even get lunch or a tasty treat at the gelato bar. 

18. During the summer months Glastonbury has a free Riverfront concert series.

19. My Gym, a children's fitness center offers a variety of fun classes and programs for ages 8 and under. 

20. Glastonbury is home to the annual Apple Harvest Festival that occurs every fall season. 

21. Enjoy a cone or cup of ice cream at the Carvel location on Main St. 

22. Enjoy some comfort food and family favorites at the local family owned Coffee Shop

23. Take a tractor drawn hayride into the fields of Belltown Orchards where you can pick-your-own fruit and enjoy the scenic views. 

24. Take a ride on the U.S.’s oldest continually operating ferry service, the Rocky Hill-Glastonbury Ferry, which transports passengers across the Connecticut River from Glastonbury to Rocky Hill. 

25. Try your skills out at some rock climbing on an indoor wall at the Central Rock Gym on Eastern Blvd.
