Bring the Kids While You Workout: Gyms With Childcare in Fairfield County

9/16/17 - By Elizabeth Howard

Yes! You've decided to join the gym and you're pumped about getting pumped up. First priority: make sure you join a gym that makes working out convenient. That means: in-gym childcare!

Of course, there are some days when you want to include the kids in a workout. You can always move it with your posse on a favorite local hike or bike ridean outdoor ropes course or other great active trips found in our Fairfield County Guide. I have four kids, and can't always count on getting out of bed at 5:30 a.m. or on my hubs getting home in time for my favorite yoga class. For that reason, I narrowed my gym choices to those fitness facilities that offer childcare in Fairfield County.

Edge Kids at The Fitness Edge - Multiple Locations
The Edge revamped their kids' club in the last couple years and now offer "Edge Kids," the "stay active, be healthy" childcare option for their members' offspring. With 17 beautifully updated locations in Connecticut, Edge Kids expands the gym's brand into its childcare zone. The gym offers reasonable hourly drop off rates (cheaper than a babysitter!) and monthly membership options. Limit of two hours.

YMCA - Multiple Locations
From Greenwich all the way up the coast and into the Valley, the towns of Fairfield County and beyond have their own, unique YMCAs, offering a wide variety of classes, swimming, cardio and day camps. The biggest pro to joining the Y? Your YMCA membership is good wherever you go, across the country. Their "Child Watch" hours differ from location to location, so be sure to check the website or app before you go. The plus? Child Watch is included in membership, and many gyms include a pool. The negative? YMCA memberships tend to be more pricey than those gym chains.
